I have tried the pink blush thing before and it’s not for me. I was talking with my readers like I normally do and we came to the conclusion that warm toned gals just cant pull off cool toned blushes.  So warm toned gals look away, this blush aint for you.  Yes it appears to be a hot pink, but it’s not!

Cool  toned gals welcome to the party! NARS Gaiety is the blush for you! Gaiety is a cool toned, blue based soft pink. In order to achieve the bright vivid pink, you are going to need layer after layer after layer. It is buildable, so that is a good thing.

Gaiety is all matte no shimmer, no sparkle.

NARS Gaiety is available for $28.00 on http://www.narscosmetics.com/

MAC’s Naturally Collection was full of surprises!  Fresh Honey is a soft punchy orange. You could say a muted Apricot but I am leaning more towards a soft orange.

Fresh honey is very light and powdery, expect fallout when applying this blush. Not only will you get fallout on your brush, but it will leave fallout on the inside of the brush container.  Not a big deal of course.

While this looks good on my arm, I am too warm for this blush on my face. Sad smile

You can purchase this blush for $20 on maccosmetics.com or visit the site to check the location of stores near you.

I blended at the top and didn’t at the bottom so you could get a better idea of what this looks like blended and unblended. You really have to be the right skin tone to pull this one off. Like… pale, no yellow undertones for this blush.

I had someone ask me again for recommendations on a purple blush. Purples and plums are great on women of color with darker skin tones if worn correctly. Problem is, there are not many companies that make an all out purple blush. So what do you do? Give up? Why? Especially when you can make your own! Here are two recommendations to make due and still come out with a purple blush.

First things first, I know there have been a few purple blushes out and about in the past, like MAC’s Sakura from the Quite Cute Collection and MAC Vintage Grape Ombre, but those shades are LE, meaning they are sold today, gone tomorrow and they may never come back. So we have to find other solutions.

1. Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream- there are three shades that can be used. Shades 17(plum), 18 (mauve) , and 19(purple).  I would suggest using a stippling brush for a flawless application

2. MAC Pigment- In my book, the MAC pigment is by far one of the most versatile products on the market. So many uses and so much product in one tiny jar! Try Grape or Violet for the perfect purple look.  Because the MAC pigment is a loose powder, use a powder brush to apply

MAC’s Surf Baby Collection had a few gems in it and My Paradise was one of them. Luckily, I was able to catch this one before it sold out (I was ALMOST too late).  My Paradise is described as a peach shade with a gold flower overspray. It retails for $28.00. Let’s check out some more pics and a swatch! Stay tuned for a comparison post with drug store brands.
