My good twitter friend Miss Darling volunteered to guest post a face of the day so here it is!!

Being in photos, on film and in front of the webcam as much as I am, the make-up routine I use for those times is certainly much different from the one I use in everyday applications. I’m going to share with you how I get camera-ready with some of my favorite products. I’ll let you know right off, I’m a drugstore make-up junkie. Sure, I have a few expensive products here and there but on the whole, most of the things I use are relatively affordable and available just about everywhere. The things I do tend to invest in are good brushes, applicators and storage units to keep everything organized. So here’s my big naked face.

First off, as I’m sure you all know, I always start with clean, moisturized skin. I swear by Oil of Olay beauty fluid for sensitive skin. I’ve tried the expensive brands and honestly, nothing compares to it. Alright, now on to the goods. Here’s the pile of goodies straight out of my organizer.

I use a concealer under my eyes first ’cause, hello, girlfriend’s got dark circles and bags for days.
I use Maybelline Age-Rewind Double Face Perfector in medium. It’s got a nice two-sided tube with a concealer on one end and a slightly lighter tinted highlighter on the other. It works well for all the covering up needed as well as lightening up the areas under the eyes subtly.

I really like Loreal’s foundations and the one I’m currently using is Feel Naturale light-softening one-step makeup in Natural Beige #232. It’s creamy and dries to an almost powdery finish. It’s so even that I don’t feel the need to set it with a pressed powder; which for me is unheard of since I tend to have slightly oily skin. So yeah, pretty awesome for keep the oil-slicks at bay!

For defining my brows, I currently use Cover Girl Brow and Eye Makers pencil in Midnight Brown but really I don’t notice a real difference between brands when it comes to brow pencils. I chose CG simply because the pencils were small and came in a two-pack. I’m a thrify girl so naturally I was like, “sold!” Since I’m not terribly fickle on this product, we’ll skip the photo.
Where I AM fickle though, is on my eyeliner. I loooove liquid liner. My lashes don’t stay curled for anything so I like to feather out a little liner in the corner of my eye to give a bit of lash illusion. Yessss. Make-up trickery! A girl’s best friend. But I digress… I currently am in LUST with NYC’s Liquid Eyeliner in Jet black. It’s just so light and smooth but with fabulous coverage and a really forgiving brush if your hand isn’t as steady as you might normally need for liquid liner. Unfff, LOVE this liner and it’s super cheap, too. Can’t beat that.

Now before I even get to put my liner on, I bust out my most favoritest (yes,*favoritest*) make-up find in the whole dang world. I’m sure y’all are familiar with the mega-fantastic Manly Blusher and Eyeshadow palettes. Omg, I don’t know what the heck I was doing before I got this thing.

Every color in the rainbow and countless blending possibilities. Now, these are not MAC quality pigments or anything of the sort BUT I have a solution for that too…

UH HUH. See? I break out the good stuff every now and again. You really need a primer for your lids when using any shadows that you want to really POP and also to really STAY. I use the MAC Shadestick in Beige-ing. I know that MAC discontinues their stuff like a mofo so I don’t know if that’s still available but I’m sure they have something comparable if it’s not.
Now blush is variable just like foundation. It depends on the season and my current tan level (however pitiful it is at the moment) but I really like Maybelline’s Expert Blush in Pinch o’ Pink #20. It gives me that healthy just-got-done-jogging glow when y’all know I ain’t going anywhere near a treadmill. So yeah, It works.

Next up is something that our lovely Ms. Aprill herself recommended to me and I LUV HAH for it. Maybelline’s Falsies Volum Express mascara. It works. Plain and simple, it works. I don’t always have the time (or desire) to wrangle with fake lashes and this combined with a good eyeliner job, certainly does the trick. THANK YOU APRILL.

AIright, so LAST but never ever LEAST is the lip color. I swear by lining my lips first even if I’m just planning on just wearing gloss (and I often do) so I use a nude liner first. I really like a retractable liner, because well, sharpening pencils should be left for schoolchildren. I’m currently using Naughty Nude #836 by NYC. Good coverage, nice color, blends well.

I love love LOVE Stila lip glosses. YASSS. Getchu some YESTERDAY. Do you hear me? I’m so serious. I use the Lip Glaze color set and they’ve got a nice array of nudes and shimmers and unfff, just awesomeness.

So there. That’s my round-up of my favorite products for camera-readiness on a budget.
oh, and here’s my fancy made-up face. Not too shabby.
