Maybelline Color Elixir by Colorsensational Swatches And Review
Take a second and think about your wish list when it comes to a gloss. What do you want? Me? I want a gloss that has high shine, well pigmented, easy to apply, good staying power and feels light on the lips.
Maybelline Color Elixir by Colorsensational ($8.99) is a permanent line of glosses that Maybelline claims delivers the color of a lipstick, the cushiony care of a balm, and the glass like shine of a lip gloss.
The packaging was initially one reason that I was hesitant to even buy these glosses. they are in short tubes that weigh in at 0.17oz. They are twist cap and the wand inside is an angora brush that promises even application. I would assume the angora brush is the new ‘it wand’, as it is a YSL dupe. I like the angora brush more than the doe-foot wand however, because they really deliver more precise application.
Maybelline Color Elixir is everything that Maybelline says it is. The formula of the glosses are very creamy and smooth. It has the pigmentation of a lipstick, it takes care of the lips like a balm, and they have the super high shine of a lip gloss.
The glosses are not sticky, tacky or watery. Think PERFECT.
The hydration lasts long after the color has faded. My lips were moist for at least 8 hours.
Maybelline Color Elixir starts to fade after about 3 hours for me but let’s face it, it’s not a longwear product, and it’s a gloss. No way I can make it last forever. Keith Sweat.
Application using the angora brush is pretty good. They are just as pigmented on the lips as they are in the tube, or swatching on my hand. You can really apply this with one coat. I love the semi-opaque jelly like texture of the Color Elixir. My only small little complaint is that they apply a tad streaky. But that’s nothing that a lip pencil can’t fix!
