From the looks of things, the nude trend is going nowhere. Maybelline released a palette full of nude shades at a very affordable price. From the first glance, I knew I wanted it because let’s face it, it’s 12 shades of neutral colors for a very low price. Finding it was not going to be as easy as I anticipated though. Our Bed Bath And Beyond does not carry beauty products at all, Rite Aid was my next place to look but they tend to get products a little later than everyone else in my neck of the woods, and this problem is the same at other drugstores. After almost giving up, I made a super early Walmart run because the hubs needed deodorant. I was ‘just’ about to turn on that aisle when I saw it. A whole display full of The Nudes palettes, Baby Lips Crystal, and the new nail shades. I squealed a little and some woman stocking over in that area looked at me crazy. It was quite clear that she is not a beauty lover. She shoulda been screaming with me!
After reading mixed reviews, I decided that this wouldn’t just be a personal purchase, I would review it too. Some bloggers say the pigmentation sucks, others say it’s perfect. My turn to review!
Maybelline The Nudes is a 12 pan palette that has a good mixture of shimmer and semi matte textured shadows. The palette is very sleek- black casing with a clear window to see the shadows and ‘The Nudes’ written in silver letters. It reads high-end, even though it’s like 10 bucks. The shadows are not assigned names. Included in the palette is a sponge eyeshadow applicator. There is no mirror.

I decided to do my swatches using an eyeshadow brush. I also used primer because without it, the swatches would be very sheer and hard to photograph.
If you do not own a palette with nude colored shades, this one is for you. If you have a palette like Too Faced Chocolate Bar, or Urban Decay Naked 1, you will not find a use for this palette. While The Nudes palette is very affordable, at $9.99, it is important to use a primer. Shadows top #1, 2 and 3; bottom #5, 6 have the worst pigmentation of them all. Otherwise the shadows are buildable, including the ones that have the worst pigmentation, blend well, and you can create some wonderful neutral looks on a budget. There is also a very handy guide on the back that shows you how to create looks.
