New! OPI x Coca Cola Summer 2014 Swatches And Review

OPI Coca Cola

Disclosure: Press Samples provided, all thoughts are my own

For many things, I don’t have too much of brand loyalty…I like to weigh out my options, such as affordability and local availability…unless it involves soda.

I am a Coca-Cola girl through and through.  My personal favorites are Coca-Cola and Coke Zero.  If I’m told by a restaurant they only have Pepsi products, I either opt for Mountain Dew or water.  To me, regular Coke has a crisper, less heavy flavor than Pepsi.  As for Coke Zero, it seems to be more carbonated than typical diet sodas and isn’t as overwhelmingly sweet as Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi.

With both companies being at the top of their respective industries, it makes sense that OPI and Coca-Cola would join forces.  This collection features crèmes, glitter and even an interesting duochrome.

OPI Coca-Cola 2014 - Green On the Runway 3

Green on the Runway (inspired by Sprite, 2 coats) is a unique green-to-red duochrome polish.  It has a fantastic, smooth application and a very apparent color shift.

OPI Coca-Cola 2014 - My Signature is DC

OPI Coca-Cola 2014 - My Signature is DC 2

My Signature is “DC” (inspired by Diet Coke, 2 coats) isn’t particularly special as a silver foil, but is very opaque and can be applied with one coat.  This would be a great polish for nail art stamping.

OPI Coca-Cola 2014 - You're So Vain-illa

OPI Coca-Cola 2014 - You're So Vain-illa 2

You’re So Vain-illa (inspired by Vanilla Coke, 2 coats) pale nude crème

All the crèmes in this collection are on point:  the formula is smooth, applies easily and opaque in two coats.  Orange You Fantastic! is best used as a glitter topper due to the thick formula and sheer base, but Today I Accomplished Zero was opaque in 2 coats.

My personal favorites are You’re So Vain-illa and Green on the RunwayYou’re So Vain-illa is a great pick for an interview polish or if you work in a conservative office.  It reminds me of Zoya Chantel but with a far superior formula.  They’re not known for this, but I’ve noticed OPI has been cranking out pretty fantastic duochromes with Green on the Runway, Miss Piggy’s Big Number, Just Spotted the Lizard and Nicole by OPI’s Emerald Empowered.  They all have great formulas and three are cheaper alternatives to Chanel polishes.

Are you just as picky as me when it comes to Coke vs. Pepsi?  Also, what word do you use to refer to a carbonated beverage?  My husband is originally from Ohio, so I will playfully poke fun at him when he refers to one as a “pop”.  Whatever beverage you prefer, stay well-hydrated during these hot summer days!

Coca-Cola by OPI will be available in both nail lacquer and GelColor formulas beginning June 2014.
