Hey everyone!

I hope you’ve survived this insane winter so far.  Hopefully it’ll be over for good (and good riddance) in a couple of weeks.  Don’t you fret though…spring collections are here to help you forget the bitter cold!

Today I’ve got the Nicole by OPI Roughles collection.

…yes, I heard you groan, “not ANOTHER texture polish collection!”  I was a bit apprehensive about this collection, especially with my personal dislike of less dimensional textured polishes.  However, all of the Roughles have a speckled egg collection, just in time for Easter!

I’m Stucco On You

I found this lavender with purple specks to be surprisingly elegant.

Rock The Look

This reminds me of a strawberry milkshake, complete with the particles of real strawberries.  Just don’t try to eat your nails while wearing it!

On What Grounds

This is my favorite of the collection: it’s the perfect robin’s egg blue ever, complete with speckles.  If you like Tiffany blues, you NEED this.

Sand In My Shoe

Have you ever seen a canna flower?  Sand In My Shoe captures the essence of the yellow flower with the complementary orange flecks.  This is probably the best applying yellow I’ve ever had, probably because it is not a traditional yellow polish.

They all only require two coats and dry fairly quickly.  Unlike glittery versions of textured polishes, these polishes do not gain extra oomph from a top coat.  I would love a traditional polish with similar flecks, so I attempted to smooth the finish with 2 coats of Gelous and a coat of China Glaze Fast Forward.

The Purple Top Coat Eater

Pretty, isn’t it?

Nicole by OPI can be found at many retailers across the US for $7.99  If you need something to get you out of these winter doldrums, pick one up soon!

These are really pretty! I’m kind of over the textured polish thing I think, but then I see a few more like this that I want to try lol!

    • Janice Agagas-Welch

I feel the same way…I’m pleasantly surprised when someone finds a twist on something that’s been done!

These are neat! I think I like them better with the clear top coat though!

    • Janice Agagas-Welch

I do too…but the texture will do okay in a pinch :)

Super pretty polish. Love I am Stucco on you. It looks gorgeous!!

    • Janice Agagas-Welch

      thank you so much!

  • beautybymissl

Love the shades. In my opinion these polishes look much better with topcoat (I am not really a fan of textured polishes).

    • Janice Agagas-Welch

…if only they can be remade in a regular formula! *sigh*

Obsessed with these! Love them even more with top coat!

    • Janice Agagas-Welch

I’m going to try to find an easier way to even them out!

I love the On What Grounds

it’s a gorgeous twist on Tiffany blue!

I am so in love with this – I must have them :)

    • Janice Agagas-Welch

      they’re a must-have!!!

  • Cosmetic Sanctuary

I loved the colors in this collection, but I wasn’t overly thrilled with the matte textures. I like them sparkly! You took great pics of them though!

    • Janice Agagas-Welch

thank you! these polishes seem to make it work without sparklies, which I tend to prefer as well.

  • Kelly R

    These look fun!

    • Janice Agagas-Welch

      they definitely are :D

I actually really enjoy the rough texture polishes lately!

    • Janice Agagas-Welch

they’re great if you’re pressed for time thanks to their quick-drying nature :)

  • Nidia Doherty

I love textured polishes, but I prefer them with sparklies. I really like these speckled polishes, though, but, like you said, I think I like them better in a smooth formula.

    • Janice Agagas-Welch

I sure hope someone makes a regular formula version of these! That would make my spring!

Not sure if I’m a fan of this particular texture– reminds me of spackle!

    • Janice Agagas-Welch

I normally don’t like the stucco-like polishes, but the speckles and bright colors work well with the texture.

  • Anastasia

I love the name and the look of these polishes. I think they look great both as is, and topped with glossy top coat :)

    • Janice Agagas-Welch

they’re the closest I’ve seen to “real” speckled eggs! The glossy looks awesome but is a bit impractical.

  • Shelley Polarbelle

    very nice swatches!!

    • Janice Agagas-Welch

      thank you!

  • http://theplasticdiaries.com Kimmi @ The Plastic Diaries

I really like the speckled look of these. They remind me of Easter eggs.

    • Janice Agagas-Welch

I wish someone would make a “regular” polish version of these…with speckles instead of glitter combinations mimicking speckles.

Your swatches of these are so fabulous!! I’m really liking the colors as well.
