LA Minerals is a brand that I ran into because the owner is a member of makeuptalk.com and has been for a while. LA Minerals is bismuth oxychloride, talc, phthalates, nano-particles, and perfume free, hypoallergenic and anti-inflammatory. In addition the formulation is water and sweat resistant, which is always a plus. I got to try the On Stage Illuminizer, Lush Blush, 3 shadows, peppermint lip gloss, and the NoHoGlo foundation.

OPI has partnered with Serena Williams for nail polish collection in which colors will launch for each tennis competition. The Glam Slam collection will run in conjunction with the Australian Open (January), French Open (May), Wimbledon (June) and the US Open (August), with two shades debuting with each competition. The collection begins with Simply Smashing, the perfect glitzy yellow shade that resembles the color of a tennis ball.
There will be an accompanying shade, Black Shatter, a special effects polish that creates a leopard print pattern on top of any nail polish shade.
The collection makes it beginning launch in January 2011.
Racist? To use a term like racist can be very dangerous, but is there another term that can be used? What is a term that can be used to describe a company that produces makeup in which there are no shades for women of color in their foundation range? I am not very dark skinned, I want to say medium dark. Everyday women like me that want to pick an affordable foundation can’t because some brands don’t even make foundation our color. Which makes finding a foundation shade harder, because you are limited to certain brands.
Here are three examples of brands in which I bought their darkest shade and it was a failure:
In honor of the twentieth anniversary of Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards—which honor notable women of achievement—L’Oréal Paris and Glamour have teamed up to create this limited edition nail polish. It’s beautiful on the inside and out: $3 of every bottle sold on shopglamour.com will go to support the efforts of this year’s Women of the Year Fund Honoree, Dr. Hawa Abdi.* For nearly 20 years, Dr. Abdi has made it her mission to provide food, shelter and medical care to women and children escaping from violence in Somalia.
