When you take a trip to the drugstore looking for skin relief, there are plenty of lotions on the market like Cetaphil, Aquaphor, and Eucerin, but what about a soap? Most of your soaps like Caress, Dial and Softsoap contain a lot of things you don’t want to use on your skin when you experience an Eczema or Psoriasis flare up. So what do you do?

CVS teamed up with SheaMoisture to create a line of soaps specifically made to cleanse, calm, and heal the skin. There are two bars in the lineup, hypoallergenic and dermatologist tested which aims at relieving eczema, psoriasis and inflammation- Eczema & Psoriasis Therapy and Inflammation Therapy.

Eczema & Psoriasis Therapy comes highly recommended by my daughter. She’s suffered from eczema since she was a very little baby and one of our biggest issues was always trying to find a soap gentle enough to get her skin clean without making her eczema worse. Made using a proprietary blend of African Black Soap and certified organic Shea Butter, the soap is clinically proven to relieve symptoms of eczema and psoriasis. It’s made in a traditional way, just as it’s been done for centuries in Africa. Leaves, cocoa pods, shea tree bark and plantains are burned to an ash, which gives the soap its naturally black color, with coconut oil and shea butter, combined to the mix. Other key ingredients include Aloe Vera, Lemon Balm, Sea Wrack, and Gotu Kola.

Inflammation Therapy soap comes highly recommended by me. I suffer from Hidradenitis suppurativa, a skin condition which causes painful cysts under my arms and breasts. When I have a flare up, this is the soap that I use to wash the affected area. The calendula extract instantly calms my skin, and this soap smells great too. The tea tree oil keeps the affected area clean and itch free. This is my calming bar for real. Since Inflammation Therapy soap was released, I’ve ordered well over 15 bars. Hidradenitis is really hard on my skin I’ll admit. This soap is my savior. It sure in the hell beats bathing in vinegar now.

The SheaMoisture First Aid Soap is available exclusively at CVS; 6,000 stores carry the line.  Each five ounce bar soap has a suggested retail price of $4.99. For more information, please visit SheaMoisture.com.

I’m going to have to try these. I don’t suffer from eczema but my son does.

I want to try these! No one in the family has a case of dry, irrated skin but I’d love this for summer time when those mosquito come to bite and after sun tanning.
