Summer Fragrance Must Haves: My Favorite Five Elements of summer
Disclosure- This post contains press samples and affiliate links. All thoughts are my own.
What does the summer mean to you? If you are anything like me, there are five elements to summer that I live for- suntan lotion, honey, sun, water and flowers. So I dug deep down in my stash and found five fragrances that embody each one of these elements.
Suntan Lotion, Demeter Suntan Lotion, $20
Demeter Suntan Lotion captures the scent of suntan lotion without the horrible risk of skin cancer. Though suntan lotion technically does not exist any more, it has the classic scent of sunscreen plus hints of orange blossom. According to a Fragrantica.com user, it smells like “Coppertone’s Bain de Soleil Orange Glacee”. Not to mention, Demeter Suntan Lotion is a more affordable alternative to Bobbi Brown Beach.
Honey, Marc Jacobs Honey, $52
Marc Jacobs Honey is a bright, fresh fragrance combining the warm scent of honey with sparkling notes of pear. This is a summer favorite of mine because I associate honey in the summer with honey ales and honey covered strawberries.
Sun, Lush Gorilla Sun Fragrance, $24.95
When you think about the sun, it technically does not have a scent, but we have long associated the sun with bright notes. Lush Sun is a bright sunny scent with notes of Brazilian Orange Oil, Sandalwood Oil, and Limonene.
Water, Demeter Ocean, $20
This is for the girl, i.e., me, that hasn’t touched an ocean in well over a decade. I was 12 years old when I lived in Maryland for a brief period so I got the privilege to take a few trips up the coast and frolic in the water. But that was a long time ago. I miss the smell of salted air and warm waters. Demeter Ocean will take you to this place with a scent combination of ocean water, salted air, and sand.
Orchids, Philosophy Field Of Flowers Violet Blossom, $33.99
Fragrances with notes of rose are so cliché. And lavender. Every fragrance has one of these two notes. To wiggle my way out of the box, I wanted to try something new, something romantic but good for everyday wear. Philosophy Field of Flowers Violet Blossom features notes of violet and a woody, powdery dry down.
