NARS Summer 2012 Campaign Image

(Ok look, her makeup is everything in this photo!)

The Summer 2012 campaign was designed and photographed by NARS
Founder and Creative Director François Nars. Once again, the inimitable Ginta
Lapina personifies the look.

To begin, St. Moritz Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF30/PA+++ was applied
to the center of the face with the fingertips and blended outward, then set with
Eden Loose Powder to create an immaculate complexion. To lend the skin a
light bronzed look, Laguna Bronzer was dusted onto the face in the shape of a
‘3’, starting at the forehead, swept on to the cheek, and then along the jawline.
The apples of the cheeks were warmed with Liberté Blush and the face further
defined by dusting Taos Blush along the hairline.

Summer brings with it a cocktail of warm earth tones and brazen shimmers. Eyes
glisten in icy peach and matte apricot, or shine in iridescent orchid and blue.
Lips are subtle in a glossy nude beige pink, or bold in matte strawberry red. A
delicate seashell pink lends nails a flattering hue for an overall look that’s sizzling,
sophisticated and—like so many summery moments—simply unforgettable.

NARS Ramatuelle Trio Eyeshadow
RAMATUELLE
Named for a village in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region of southeastern
France, this elegant Trio Eyeshadow combines two shimmers—silver and icy
peach—with a matte apricot for a unexpected warm-cool take on a neutral
palette. Each shade is universally flattering alone or layered upon one another
for a unique, refined look.

NARS Marie Galante Duo Eyeshadow
MARIE-GALANTE
Named for the Caribbean island in the Guadeloupean archipelago, this Duo
Eyeshadow is an iridescent combination of orchid paired with regal blue and is
at once both soft and striking. Wear layered for a look that really pops.

NARS Calabria Soft Touch Shadow Pencil
CALABRIA
This versatile, shimmering plum Soft Touch Shadow Pencil is the ideal
complement for color on lids. Named for the region south of Naples, at the
“toe” of the Italian Peninsula—it can be worn solo, as a base for powder
shadows, or as a liner.

NARS Vendanges Lipstick
VENDANGES
The French word for “harvest” or “vintage” perfectly describes this sheer grape
Lipstick, as it conjures images of juicy, just-picked fruit off the vine.

NARS Liberte Blush

LIBERTÉ
French for freedom, this versatile burnished apricot imparts a fresh, warm flush
to the skin. Dust on apples of the cheeks for a sexy, carefree glow.

NARS Buenos Aires Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil
BUENOS AIRES
This wear-with-anything nude beige pink Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil is named after
the capital of Argentina. It combines the ease of a pencil with the finish of a gloss
for a truly versatile, quintessential modern classic.

NARS Never Say Never Velvet Matte Lip Pencil
NEVER SAY NEVER
Line, fill, then top with gloss—or don’t. This lilac rose Velvet Matte Lip Pencil
delivers a look you’ll never say no to, however you choose to wear it.

NARS Moscow Pure Matte Lipstick
MOSCOW
This strawberry red Pure Matte Lipstick is as striking and sophisticated as the
Russian capital that lends its name.

NARS Trouville Nail Polish
TROUVILLE
The seashell pink nail hue would look right at home on the beaches of the
fishing village in the Basse-Normandie region of northwestern France, for which
it is named.

SUMMER 2012 COLLECTION
Q&A WITH FRANÇOIS NARS

What inspired the NARS 2012 Summer Collection?
I was interested in exploring the interplay of earth tones and shimmers. That
relationship between divergent colors and textures is summed up in our Ramatuelle
Trio Eyeshadow, which combines a silver shade with an apricot and icy peach.
Besides illustrating a fresh take on nudes, the Trio is also just a really chic and
versatile summer palette.

What’s unexpected about the collection?
I think at first glance, the combination of orchid, blue, strawberry red and seashell
pink can sound and appear quite delicate and innocent, but our version of these
colors and the way we combine them results in a look that’s more fun and edgy.
What are the must-have products of the season?

Besides the Ramatuelle Trio Eyeshadow, I’d say our Never Say Never Velvet Matte
Lip Pencil. The lilac rose color looks great with tanned skin, and the matte finish is
the perfect complement to a shimmery lid or glowing complexion. I also love our
Trouville Nail Polish because a seashell pink nail is a really fun summer accessory.
As the face of the Summer Color Collection, how does Ginta represent the
summer mood?

When made up in the collection’s colors, Ginta transforms from fresh and girlish
into a strong and sophisticated woman, but with an irreverent playful edge.

…..Five days ago and I am just now telling you about it.

I don’t think I introduced my Holiday VoxBox, so I wanted to make sure that I shared this one! Back in February Influenster announced that there would be another box coming soon and even gave a few clues. Well, the box has arrive so let’s peek to see what’s inside!IMG_0086

Yes, I took this on my floor. No, you will not judge me.

This box contained 4 items-

1. Gilette Venus and Olay shaving razor. This razor is supposed to replenish moisture.

2. Stash herbal tea sampler- This is a brand that I have honestly never heard of, so it will be interesting to try out the products. I am very excited about some of the flavor combinations, like blueberry superfruit and lemon ginger.

3.Kiss Nail Dress nail decals- If you remember from the holiday box I reviewed the imPress press on nails, and that was a nightmare, but this time, I’m kinda excited. First of all it’s not a press on nail, it’s nail decals. Second, it’s a brand I know and trust, and last…. you see that awesome design!

4. Last, CHOCOLATE! Not just any kind of chocolate, Ghirardelli chocolate. I felt just like this guy when I saw it.

Last, I saw other people got some kind of sugar but I didn’t. No big deal!

If you remember back in December, I got a haul from Julep and it came with this cute little pot of silver chunky glitter. Well I finally decided to try it out and share the results!

IMG_0892

For reference, this is Julep Demi <3

This is what I did just in case anyone care Smile:

  • Painted my nails (duh)
  • While my nails were still wet, I just shook some of the glitter right on the tips of my very short nails
  • coated with Seche

I still ended up with a like 3-D ish effect to my nails because all of the glitter did not lay flat.  I like the glitter pot and will end up using it again. The glitter is very very light and flakey, not like your average glitter.

I’m sure with more effort this can be improved! What do you think?

IMG_0232

I hope everyone is having a Spooktacular day! I am excited about the month of October not only for all the pretty pink that Breast Cancer Awareness Month has to bring, but also because of Halloween and the nail polish collections. I personally don’t celebrate Halloween. but I do love playing the with the nail colors and the doing Halloween themed makeup. So don’t come knocking on my door looking for candy. I will be in my recliner eating it all watching horror films.

So what I have for you today is a few colors from the collection, Haunting, It’s Alive, Black Mesh, and Ghoulish Glow glow in the dark polish.  I chose not to purchase the other colors because they were so common and I’ve seen them a million times. I wanted the glitter!

IMG_0329

Haunting is a sheer black polish with silver glitter flakes. This polish in particular takes about 3 coats to get it nice and opaque.

IMG_0332

It’s Alive is a sheer green base polish with green medium sized hexagon glitter and green microshimmer. You have to excuse me on this description. I may or may not have sat on my glasses, and I may or may not be able to see Open-mouthed smile So I had to get some help from Landa from Bright Lights Big Color.

IMG_0342

Black Mesh is a black crackle shade (rolls eyes)….let me tell you how underwhelmed and tired I am of crackles. blah blah blah blah blah… The above picture is Black Mesh on top of It’s Alive.

IMG_0246

(yeah that’s right, you see nothing! LOL!!)

Ghoulish Glow is the star of the show and my first time playing with a glow in the dark nail polish. Let me tell you that this was not as easy as I imagined it would be.

So let’s talk about Ghoulish Glow- I have a Canon Powershot and a Kodak Easyshare. I did a little research via google and even had someone from Twitter link me to an article about taking pictures of glow in the dark objects. Fail, fail fail. I tried both cameras and followed the directions to a tee. No dice. So just believe me when I say it glows in the dark.

When using Ghoulish Glow, please use a heavy coat. I used a thin coat the first time and went and ran in a dark room only to discover nothing glowing. Tried it again with a heavier coat and sure enough it glows. Very soft, but a glow is a glow.

Ok so back in November 2009, I bought a bottle of Seche from Sally’s because I heard all the nail freaks holler about how its the best fast dry top coat ever! Ok yeah its nice, it dries fast, it leaves a nice shiny finish…but legend has it that you use half of the bottle, and from there on out, its sticky!! AND ITS TRUE!!!

Sadly I havent used my whole bottle, I havent used half, I have only used like 1/4th of the bottle if that! And its the consistency of honey! COLD HONEY. So I pulled a switcharoo….

Sally Hansen’s fast dry topcoat (in the red bottle) is great!! I love that it’s very thin in application, the smell is not as overpowering as say Seche.  I found my holy grail of topcoats!!
