Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and that means you probably have a hot date to prepare for, so here are a few tips to get prepared for the big day!

1. Exfoliate- your body has tons of dead skin, so exfoliate before you shave to remove it! Remember not to exfoliate after, because this can irritate your freshly shaved skin. Check out some of the posts I have on exfoliators!

2. Do not shave dry skin- warm moist skin shaves best.

3. Put that soap away- Soap does not create a rich enough lather to protect the skin against cuts and nicks.  Skintimate shaving gel on the other hand is. The gel dispenses and turns into a rich foam which protects the skin while leaving it smooth and moisturized, and smelling of so yummy.

4. Choose your razor wisely-  shaving- Make sure you are using the best razor possible.  The Schick Quattro for Women features a 4 blade cartridge with two conditioning strips for a close and smooth shave. The compact pivoting head follows close to the body and curves for a close shave. Rubber grip handle ensures that it wont slip out of your hand which could cause a nasty cut!

5. Moisturize- When you are out of the shower or tub, make sure you moisturize will with body lotion or body oil. I recommend Wen Treatment Oil,

Skintimate comes in a wide assortment of flavors- Raspberry Rain, Luscious Kiwi Splash, Jasmine Meadows, Flirty Mango, and Tropical Splash, which all retail for $2.79 for the 7oz can.

SANY0058

Brand- Revlon

Product- Colorstay quad, Inspire #540

Price- $7.99

Availability- Drugstores, Ulta.com, Beauty.com

SANY0060

Inspire is a very spring inspired quad that can very well take you right into the summer. The quad features a vanilla shade to highlight, a lime green, a cool aqua blue, and a dark purple to contrast.

SANY0065

Packaging is a plastic quad with a clear snap lip so that you can see the colors from the outside, which is common with drugstore cosmetic packaging.

SANY0066

SANY0067

The shades are nice and shimmery  but if you are looking for high pigmentation, look somewhere else. The colors are very faint, and hard to build.  Using a primer underneath will give you somewhat of better color payoff, but building is hard, and blending is even harder, especially the green and purple shade.

Does it last 16 hours with no primer? No. Just…no.

If you are still sleeping on Julep then here’s a reason to wake up- Julep created some Oscar-inspired lacquers that left me in awe.  They created what seems like a new collection of nail lacquers names after actresses in connection with the Oscars.

When I received my Maven Box for the month of January, I got Oscar, Viola, and Julep’s topcoat for hair (that I have not used yet).

SANY0077

Back to these lacquers- Oscar ($14.00) is a clear lacquer packed with chunky square gold glitter.  When I saw the initial previews of this lacquer in the newsletter, I was honestly expecting gold flakes over glitter- don’t ask me why I honestly do not know. Anywho here are some swatches of Julep Oscar- I only did two coats but imagine how blingin’ your tips would be if you did 3 or 4 coats.

SANY0075

Viola ($14.00)- which I assume is named after Viola Davis, is a deep dark and sultry lacquer.  Viola is deep dark purple with a crème finish. I have not swatched it yet because when I got my Julep package in the mail, I also got those few shades from Electropop and I did not want to risk swatching such bright shades with potentially stained nails.  So my plan is to do a nail of the day with Viola over the weekend and share with you guys then.

Julep’s Topcoat for hair?? hmmm at this point Do not want but you never know!

If China Glaze’s Up and Away and Kicks Collection had a baby, it would be the Electropop collection! This was a unique collection with a combination of brights and pastels to usher spring in the right way! Check out my swatches of 3 of the lacquers from the collection.

I have tried the pink blush thing before and it’s not for me. I was talking with my readers like I normally do and we came to the conclusion that warm toned gals just cant pull off cool toned blushes.  So warm toned gals look away, this blush aint for you.  Yes it appears to be a hot pink, but it’s not!

Cool  toned gals welcome to the party! NARS Gaiety is the blush for you! Gaiety is a cool toned, blue based soft pink. In order to achieve the bright vivid pink, you are going to need layer after layer after layer. It is buildable, so that is a good thing.

Gaiety is all matte no shimmer, no sparkle.

NARS Gaiety is available for $28.00 on http://www.narscosmetics.com/

100_3191

MAC Redhead Mineralized Satin Finish was originally released with the Brunette, Blonde, Redhead collection back in 2008.  It has made a reappearance in the Naturally Collection, probably because of it’s beautiful and natural finish to the skin.  It was also the warmest of the collection.

IMG_1015

MAC Redhead MSF visually is a quad-stripped skin finisher. Starting at the left with a pale champagne and progressing to the right with a bronze and ending to the far right with a frosty coral.

I wish I had the one from the original release to compare, but I don’t. The shimmer is light and natural, it does not photograph on the skin frosty or too chunked with glitter (Like, Glissade? Glitterbomb!)

I recommend apply with the MAC 187 for a flawless finish. I promise once you apply with that brush you will have glowing second skin!

This was swatched with my fingers, imagine using a brush!

Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-on Shadow Pencil stash is a set of 5 highly pigmented shadow pencils with multi purpose uses. It is honestly everything that we always wanted from the 24/7 liners that we couldn’t get because there just was not enough product (and duh they were intended to be just liners).

So word on the beauty street is that this is the dupe to Deborah Lippmann’s Glitter In The Air, which I don’t own so I cant really compare. You can check out swatches to just Glitter In The Air from my lovely Polish Insomniac

I’ve seen swatches around and yeah it’s quite accurate.

Revlon Whimsical is a pale blue. almost on the borderline of creamy white with just a few subtle hints of blue. There are pink and blue larger hexagon glitter particles and smaller iridescent glitter particles. It’s what makes this polish so great!

This is a color you can wear alone or on top of a light blue or light pink shade. Here are my swatches:

This was after 3 coats, no base coat and no top coat.

Check for this polish in your drugstores, and Ulta had it for sure the last time I checked! Tell me what you think! You have this polish? How does it compare to GITA?
