If you are a MAC fanatic, then you already know that these have been released before. Twice technically, if you count the Brushed Metal X shadows that came in the Metal Urge Collection….. from my past experience, I love the metal cream eyeshadows, but I am familiar with the creasing, heartache and pain. Did this change?

MAC features these shadows as a product with maximum versatility- you can use on the eyes, the cheeks, the brow bone, anywhere! (really anywhere?).

They also take pride in their one stroke application. Let’s see how these hold up!

So back in 2008, MAC released the Heatherette Collection which was inspired by a fashion design house. I got these lipsticks later (and they cost me a lot more) but since I have 3/4 of them I figured I would share!

IMG_0854

The lipsticks premiered in the shades Fleshpot (satin finish), Melrose Mood (Amplified), Hollywood Nights (Satin), and Lollipop Lovin (glaze), which is not pictured. I had that lipstick and I swear it looked like a frost lipstick and I hate hate hate hate frost lipsticks. Read: Porn Mouth. So I swapped it, sue me!

IMG_0863

Fleshpot is a nude beige, great for those nude lip looks. Melrose Mood is pastel pink, I’ve never worn it before and probably never will, it is pretty and all but it does not compliment my skin tone. Hollywood Nights is the love of my life and the star of the collection. You have seen me rock Hollywood Nights in a Face of the Day. Super duper hot fuchsia pink.

I think I hold on to Melrose Mood because it took me so long to find it, and I bought dupes to tide me over until I actually got it. Besides, I only wanted it for the pretty packaging.

IMG_0872

Pink Friday is a close dupe, being a little pinker. and I thought Pink Nouveau was a dupe, but I was dead wrong.

So there you have it, a little look into my fave lipsticks from the Heatherette Collection!

So if by chance you are late for the party, it is almost time for every company to bring out a form of nail flakies because they are becoming very popular.  Zoya’s Flecks collection is three different lacquers, with different hues of flakies, suspended in different tints of lacquer.

Here we have Chloe, Maisie, and Opal.

zoya

Zoya has created an outstanding line for the Spring that contains 6 shades with 3 different finishes- crème, metallic, and shimmer. The colors were not what I expected for the Spring- I expected all crèmes, a glitter or two, various shades of pink or a ton of pastel colors, so it was nice to see a change.

100_2998

Zoya Bevin is a sea foam green, crème no shimmer. Zoya says sage green and I don’t agree, sage would be a tad deeper.

100_3000

Zoya Cho is a vanilla crème with a hint of shimmer.

100_3008

Zoya Farah is the more beige sister of Zoya Cho, just with no shimmer and touch more of beige.

100_3012

Zoya Skylar is slate blue with silver shimmer. I do not agree that this is a metallic. Or maybe it’s that the metallic shimmer was not overpowering. Either way it’s a cute color.

100_3014

Zoya Lotus is a soft  dusty purple with bronze glitter reflects.

100_3016

Zoya Tru is a darker eggplant purple, with the same bronze glitter reflects

Overall I am impressed with this collection. The crèmes tend to be a little thick so keep that in mind. Lacquers were easy to apply and easy to remove. None of the listed 6 polishes left stains on my nails. The polishes took 2 coats to apply and achieve full coverage on the nails, which makes Zoya’s ‘full coverage’ claims fact.

Must have shades- Lotus, Skylar, Bevin

I can do without Cho and Farah, because there are enough nude/neutral shades in the world. They are nice, so if you don’t have any nude polishes, pick these up.

Tru is a nice color for women with darker skin tones.

Ultra long-wearing, glossy nail lacquers by Zoya are free of harmful industrial

chemicals like toluene, camphor, formaldehyde, resin, dibutyl phthalate (DBP)

that are known to cause cancer and birth defects.

Sug. Retail $8.00 per 0.5 fl.oz. bottle (US)

Available January 13, 2012

Find Zoya TRUE & FLECK EFFECT as well as over 300 other ultra high-fashion Zoya shades at www.zoya.com.

As always, each and every Zoya color is made for women so we name them after women.

What do you think of when someone says something about press on nails?

This is what I think about- Lee Press On Nails-

The little adhesive stickers… the super fast application and wait time from nubby to fab, but let’s face it, the press on nail is a little outdated. Or at least to me it is.

So in my Influenster Holiday Vox Box, was a set of imPress Press on nails. Fully manicured, many different styles, some creative, some just a nice color.

Let’s start with the cons first, then you can decided from there whether these are for you:

IMG_0752IMG_0753

  • Poor packaging- Once you get the little bottle out of the box, ask Jesus to hold your mule because it was not easy to open. You are supposed to start off by twisting the little bottle cap off, which was a chore. From there, you open from the side and lift open.
  • Nail size selection- again, poor. There was no nail that fit my thumb, and these are made more so for people with narrow nail beds.
  • Removing adhesive- another chore, another headache. The adhesive is hard to peel, and some nails were damaged at the area towards the cuticle trying to peel them off.
  • Last 7 days? Not me. But I think demographically wise, these were not meant to be made for me either. You cannot wash dishes, comb hair, and the other 773323 things I do in 7 days in these nails. These are not housewife friendly nails.

And the pros:

  • Easy to apply- they stick right on and initially stay there
  • Shade selection- there are tons of solid colors and also lots of other designs such as the airbrushed look, crackle, and animal print. There are plenty of work safe solid shades as well.
  • Easy to remove- they pop right off with no damage to your natural nail.

IMG_0754

For me, if not for the fact that the nails are too small for my nailbed, I would buy them more often. But there is no point to wearing false nails in which your nails are showing.

imPress Manicure retails for $5.99 for colors and $7.99 for patterns, and is available at CVS, Rite Aid, Duane Reade, KMart, Walgreens, Walmart and more. For a full list of online and in-store retailers, visit imPressManicure.com, where you can download an exclusive coupon and virtually try on all the colors and patterns!

Brand- Revlon

Product- Super Lustrous Lipstick

Shade- Love that Pink

Price- $6.99, 0.15oz

Revlon’s Super Lustrous collection features lipsticks in a wide assortment of colors fortified with silk and vitamins to seal in moisture and treat the lips for a super soft pout.

I was on Ulta Online, and was debating against buying ‘Love that pink’ and ‘Love that red’, and ended up dropping ‘Love that pink’ in the cart.

Love that pink is a reddish pink with a shiny crème finish. The finish of this lipstick will put you in the mind frame of a MAC Cremesheen lipstick.

This lipstick gives light coverage on the first swipe, and the coverage is buildable.  You can choose from light, medium, or heavy with this shade in particular.

IMG_0734

This lipstick is not long lasting and will not stand the test of time from kissing, eating or drinking. You use it too heavily, you wont have any on  your lips.

Let me suggest that you use a lip liner with this one for a little extra protection, but it wont do much.

IMG_0735

Here’s the swatch on my arm, this is two coats of the lipstick.

IMG_0736

Before- No lipstick, just some dried up lips

IMG_0737

After- (please excuse my crooked lips)

High Shine. 3-D effects. Super glossy. $2.99. Do we even have to talk about anything else?

IMG_0740

IMG_0741

Nude York City is a sheer nude lip gloss mixed with fine milled 3-D silver glitter particles that reflect off the light and create an instant and affordable high definition look.

The texture of the gloss is smooth and creamy. It is another gloss with a perfect consistency that is not too sticky and not too watery. This is however not a long lasting gloss, it goes bye bye after eating with the gloss on, but my lips were left moisturized and soft thanks for Vitamin E. $2.99 win!

Pretty huh?
